the one i brought in

Why?

At the time I chose this drawing, I did it with the intention of what kind of drawing I might do in order to present my idea the best way possible.

I chose this drawing due to its simplicity; it had a strong use of line weights, clearly bringing foreground and background into focus. The use of colour places emphasis of the key design element which was the shelving units that houses wine bottles.

Overall, I chose an isometric sectional narrative drawing because I thought at our current stage of design, this kind of drawing is more suitable in presenting the program and layout of our design rather than a detailed section/sectional perspective. Our design stage doesn't have details that would make an Atelier Bow Wow drawing style effective, so i thought this would be a suitable precedent at our current stage.

this one, Witt's section by Arnuad Jouanchicot

Why?

This is more my graphic style.

The section I drew last semester (Would have liked it to be more detailed if I had more time :<)

Whats successful about the precedent?

i) Well, good use of textures through different hatching works.

ii) The use of blue to distinguish what seems to be the design element and the pink line work that highlights the people in the scene. Although, not sure why you might want the people to be in the focus of the drawing.

iii) An inhabitation drawing shows how the space might be used, begins to tell a narrative of how space is being activated.

iv) Thicker line weight to show cut lines.

v) Just genuinely impressed with how detailed it is. (Kind of like the Bow Wow drawings)

Also looking at Jouanchicot's other drawings (https://issuu.com/arnaudjouanchicot/docs/portefolies_2018_200dpi)

I really like his surrealist illustration works and his flatter, more graphical pink and blue works. It has some really nice textures going on behind the drawings.

I also enjoyed this one, seen it on pinterest a couple times.

Overall, really liked the depth created the different tonal values created by black. Interesting to see how the shades of gray read as both shadow and depth within the same image. I like how rich it is as an image, the different textures start to pop and screams at different spatial volumes. But, at the same time, I do think the image is an overkill. Too many things happening at once and my eyes keeps reverting back to the negative spaces. I don't think it's a great image to pursue as an architectural design drawing, but it's a fantastic graphic/media drawing.
