RESEARCHING DETAILS FOR GREEN ROOF
The group split up to work on a detail each, I chose to research on the green roof details and went through a few books in the library. The most helpful one that I found was Contemporary Landscaping, which provided an in-depth detail on building a green roof that supports trees. I found a few books about green roof but most of them only supported the growth of grass and not much about trees and plants.

From the research, I did a sketch to show the detailing of a green roof without trees and one that supports trees. In order to support small to medium sized trees, the roof had to be significantly thicker, requiring 50-100mm of soil along with a structure solid enough to support that weight.

Ethan worked on the detailing of the study pods, the ground connection, roof connection as well as the window connection. Daniel was really excited about acoustics and he retrieved quite a few info about that.
Our meeting with Dr. Ferdinand went quite smoothly and he seemed quite excited about our design. Our details seemed to have went well and we started to talk about the designs of the library. With the current sustainability trend, Dr. Ferdinand recommended us to explore our constructional materials with CLT. He also advised us on a couple detailing with the floor joint connection to the ground, and linked us to his previous works on Baunetz (I couldn't find what we were looking for there). The discussion dragged on and he also advised us of the roofing. At this stage, Ethan had made some adjustments to the study pods which we haven't seen yet. Dr. Ferdinand mentioned the practicality of that design change, and I believe Anthony mentioned about creating framed views that we were quite interested to do.
